The Fort Lee schools superintendent has posted a statement on the town's Board of Education web site concerning the death of a high school student on Sunday, March 15.

Dr. Raymond Bandlow writes, "I’m informing you of this tragic loss this evening because I wanted to give you and your children the opportunity to discuss it as a family, rather than have students learn about it tomorrow morning without the benefit of your nurture and support."

Superintendent Bandlow advised that counselors and teachers will be available to provide counseling and support to the district's students. For parents whose children might need such support but be reluctant to seek it, the counseling offices of the various Fort Lee schools may be contacted as follows:

  • Fort Lee High School: 201-585-4681
  • Lewis F. Cole Middle School: 201-585-4667
  • School No. 1: 201-585-5769
  • School No. 2: 201-585-4631
  • School No. 3: 201-585-4644
  • School No. 4: 201-585-4648

Dr. Bandlow can be contacted directly at 201-585-4610.
