The Fort Lee Historic Society and Parks/Recreation Departments present a “Concert in the Park” on Thursday, July 20 at 7:00 p.m. The concert, to be held at Monument Park, features artist/ songwriter Meredith LeVande.
"LeVande is one of the few new up and coming artists who can catch you with a flavorful pop melody, yet have something substantive to say. Her lyrics are original, yet we can all relate to them. Singing since she could talk, anyone with a nostalgia for yesterday and an instinct for the future knows this songbird carries the voices of a deeply feminine past and a call that resonates far beyond now. While her voice is strong and powerful, there is a certain frailty and innocence that is not afraid to reveal itself.
While people compare her to Joni Mitchell, Natalie Merchant, Mazzy Star, her true influences take a much more organic form. Her influences are less musically direct and come from other places. As "her favorite song" is "listening to the rain outside my window," LeVande hears melody from the wind and the pitch of traffic. She hears it in conversation, on the subway, or in those random places that aren't always conducive to songwriting. With her awesome presence and energy, Meredith is quite soft and surprisingly sensitive. Underneath all that striking, unique, and overwhelming hair is a person who is not afraid to show her vulnerable self."
