Joe: Some Koreans are nice, others aren't. Just like the rest of humanity. But that's not the point of this thread.
The issue is that Koreans represent a heavy concentration of a "first generation" ethnic group. They generally keep to themselves, don't learn English, set up their own businesses that have no interest in non Koreans, organize their own parent teacher association in the schools, and generally create a "community within a community" that tends to build on itself. That has made the town less attractive to Caucasians and ultimately has created an "upscale" Palisades Park in Fort Lee. There is nothing anyone can do about that, but the facts are that home sales are going more and more to Koreans, stores are going more and more to Koreans, the schools are becoming more and more Korean. If you are not Korean and have a young family and are in the real estate market, you probably don't consider Fort Lee --- and that's a big reason.
It's the same reason Koreans buy in Fort Lee - they want to be with their own. That is perfectly understandable.
Again, those who cry "racist" are not getting the point of this thread. Diversity is great, but when Koreans are in the majority, you will not have diversity.
