Kaufer's Lane

Does anyone know the history of Kaufer's Lane? I know my mothers aunt Anna Kaufer lived there. I was wondering who in the Kaufer family it was named after. If my mother were alive today she would be able to answer me. She might have told me at one time, but I can't remember. I remembering going to visit Anna Kaufer on Kaufer's Lane back in the 50's.
