This series of posts stimulated me to do a Google search "racism in Korea" and there were many hits referring to the insular Korean world view, the perception among many Koreans as well as the Korean media that whites and blacks are inferior to Koreans (one example: "the Korean Times" had an article that said whites were often caricatured with long noses and blacks with rings in their noses). Of course individuals differ and I'm sure not every Korean is racist (and maybe the ones who emigrate to the US are the least racist), but it does seem to point out that there is a feeling of cultural/racial superiority in the Korean world view that would support the posts here that indicate that Koreans disdain non-Koreans, keep to themselves, and have built a "little Korea" in Fort Lee/Palisades Park.
I'd be curious if any Koreans reading this board would comment honestly on this issue.
