Rutters was a bottling company based in Fort Lee for decades. The last family member, Rich Rutter, lives in Florida. Before he sold his family home in Coytesville he donated a number of bottles / artifacts to us at the Fort Lee Museum. We currently have a case on exhibit featuring items from our Rutter collection. This is part of the exhibit "Fort Lee: Yesterday & Today" that runs through September 19 at the Fort Lee Museum at 1588 Palisade Avenue (open weekends noon - 4pm / weekdays by appointment). The most notable artifact from the Rutter collection is a hope chest of Eliza Rutter who died at age 14 in 1865. This chest includes many individual items, all on display at the museum.
