>going toward the school?You may be talking about a house that was very similar to ours that was next to the school playground. It's gone now. Walking from there to Center Ave. would be Sardi's, then Gerome Ave, then Torre's, the car line, our house, Carola's and then Doc Conners on the corner of Center Ave. The last two were torn down around '71 or so to build the Whiteman House.
Our house is the only one from then that still fronts on the north side of Whiteman St. between Center & Gerome Aves. It's a two story Brick, I think that the Fredricks family lived there after us. A newer house has been built where the car line was, and that took a lot of the yard I knew as a kid.
I live on Maple Street in West Fort Lee.
