Doc Connors had a daughter, Dorothy, who was a Librarian in the Fort Lee Library at one time. I can remember her taking me to see my Kindergarten class room before school started. I hear from one of her daughters now and then, Donna Brennan. Her sister, Carol, sadly was killed in Florida about 30 years ago. They were both with me (along with a Derose and Freddy Messaro) when I totalled my SS Chevelle in front of FLHS on Saturday night 38 years ago this coming Friday night, Oct. 14.
You say you're 10 years older than me. Did you know my two cousins who lived with us back then, they would have been near your age. They were Joe and Gene Gormley, they were like my older brothers. Joe went into the Navy around '57 or so and made a career out of it, Gene married a Palotta from Palisades Park.
Yes, the CYO hall, and the separate Kindergarden next to it. It had been the Knights of Columbus hall before the school moved there from Lemoine Ave.
I spend many hours after school in that nuns convent. And I had a whole lot of good times in the CYO hall even though Fr. Donovan would often have some sort of job for me to do.
