Your posts are getting more interesting everyday. As for Sally Gormley, she lived in the Creegans house on Anderson Ave. Did your mother work in the cafeteria at one of the schools? My mother worked at the Intermediate school on Stillwell Ave. I think thats how my mother knew Sally Gormley. Did you know any of the Windecker family from Anderson Ave. and also Margarite St. in West Fort Lee? Also the Perelli family or the Twomey family on Anderson Ave. I ws born & raised at 1611 Anderson Ave. I had direct view of OLOF from our apartment house.
Chris Brosnahan can tell you some stories about
Monsignior Morrissey. How about the Anderson family. Did you know any of them. Probably, there was about 11 of them. They lived on the east end of Main St. and the beginning of River Road. You mentioned the "Hudson Disgrace" My husband deleivered that paper in Union City. My husband delivered from 1948 (he was 9) until he was 19 years old. The stories he tells me about his customers. Real cheapskates.
You mentioned Palisades Park where your Mom & Dad got married. My mother was born & raised in Palisades Park. Do you have any relatives living there. I really liked that town. No more family living there now.
I'll have to check out that book "Fort Lee" that you mentioned.
Enough rambling for now. But you sure gave me a good laugh about Morrissey.
One more thing, can't forget Sister Marie Therese with he "nnnnnnnnnnnooooooooo's"
Chris Brosnahan reminded me of that.
