Then we graduated from Madonna the same year. I was in 8B.

It's still 'The Borough of Fort Lee". Here in Jersey, the terms 'city', 'borough', 'village' and 'township' only describe the form of municipal government used. Here we use a mayor and council, each of which is elected by the registered voters. That is typical of a 'borough'.
Fort Lee may not be the same small town it was when we were kids, and the high rises make it more like a city, but it's still a borough. The 'Long Swamp' we called the north woods as kids in Fort Lee and other undeveloped areas are long gone, that also makes it feel like a city. And the fact that most families are gone too makes it feel more like an impersonal city also.
