Believe it or not, we know what you mean, because the Fort Lee we grew up in really isn’t the Fort Lee I live in. Almost everything has changed, even the things that haven’t really have. The streets in my neighborhood didn’t have curbs until ’86 or so. And I wish they hadn’t put them in either.

We used to ice skate where the Horizon House is now, there were a couple of ponds there, Piggy’s and Waddys are the two I remember.

Horizon was the first high-rise in town, shortly afterwards came Med North.

We even had three movie theaters, and over time there was at least one other. Now we have none. There used to be vacant lots all over town, now the only vacant lots are where they’ve torn down houses to build McMansions, though I’m ignoring the vacant tract near the GWB. It was, before 1974, full of stores, garden apts. and houses, with a couple of private day parking lots. We had Palisades Amusement Park, The Rivera, and other places. As a kid I used to search the cliffs where you live and find arrow heads that were left behind by the Lenepe, practically every day, We could even find them practically everywhere there was unimproved land.
