[Schools/Education] Schools Superintendant

As a parent of Fort Lee school student, it disturbs me greatly that the just hired superintendant, Joanne Calabro, has resigned. There is obviously a lot going on behind the scenes with the turnover in this job over the past 5 years. It seems odd that Alan Sugarman was in the job for 20 years and since he left, the school board has been unable to find someone to assume his role on a long term basis. I think the President of the Board of Education owes the parents an explanation. It is the Board's responsibility to find and keep good leadership, and it seems clear that they have failed in this.
I understand that some of the 5 previous leaders were interim, but that is not an excuse for this latest debacle. Either the selection process is flawed and the Board is not interviewing candidates well, or there is a personality on the Board that is driving these superintendents away.
I think a change in the leadership of the Board is appropriate. I realize it is a voluntary position, and the members deserve respect and praise for the hours they dedicate to the job, but this is simply unconscionable. I hope that during the next election we can get some fresh talent into the leadership.
