I thought There was a bowling alley there. Thanks for the reminder!!! There was a liquor store next to the Jade Room - used to go there with my Irish Grandma....doc told her a little whiskey in her tea would do her good - Pop eventually hadda take her whiskey away because at her age, never havibg used alcohol before in her life - she got too fond of it too quickly.....Oh well - a typical Irishman...or woman...she was a good grandma - also used to walk over to the Jade Room with us as kids to pick up shrimp chow mein, portion for two = that made a good friday dinner for our family of five....the portions were huge.....back then someone started a rumor that the cooks were using stray cats in the chicken dishes and the Jade Room offered a reward to the person that outted the rumor monger.....they lost some business for a while, but eventually the scurrilous rumor was forgotten and business went back to normal....no way you could fake shrimp chow mein with cats.....just don't work....
