>The Food Fair burnt down back in April 1971, in a spectacular fire one Saturday night. Although the Jade room and the Linwood Lanes bowling alley (which was in the basement of the Food Fair) didn't burn, smoke and water damaged them both. My then boss, later my partner, had just bought the Jade Room. It re-opened a few months later as Brandy's. However, by then they had built a diner just south on 9W and the restaurant and front bar closed about a year after the fire. The Jade Room/Brandy's included a restaurant, 3 bars (the third was in Linwood Lanes) and a liquor store. The last part of it changed a few years ago.
The Food Fair was rebuilt as a Pantry Pride, it's now a Kings. Linwood Lanes bowling alleys reopened as a Jack LaLane's gym after the fire. The Jade Room space is now just divided into stores.

First National Bank in Fort Lee was bought out by First Jersey National Bank, which was taken by NatWest, who sold out to Fleet who was then gobbled up by Bank of America. Interesting enough, the Fort Lee Trust Company was bought out by Peoples, who became United Jersey Bank. UJB bought out Summit Bank and assumed Summit's name. Summit was consumed by Fleet, and the original Trust Company building sat vacant for a while, now sold to another bank.
> And believe it or not there was a 5 & 10 store there that I worked in 1959.
>The 5&10 in Linwood was a Ben Franklin Store
