Yoon:
Your comment about Tenafly's Asian population being the same as Fort Lee's is not accurate. The NJ Board of Education publishes annual report cards of each school in the state, and includes demographic data. Fort Lee HS has 38% of students from households speaking English as a first language, and 34.4% speaking Korean, Chinese, or Japanese (with Korean making up 24%). The other third is mixed languages. Tenafly HS has 67.3% of students coming from English speaking homes, and 22.7% from Asian.
Here's the web site. http://education.state.nj.us/rc/rc05/menu/03-1550.htmlThe fact is that as Fort Lee has become a magnet for Asians (mostly Koreans), non-Asian homebuyers are looking elsewhere. You can call it racism, but then you have to call the Asians who are moving in racists too, since they are choosing Fort Lee precisely for the same reason that non-Asians are choosing other towns. Asians want to live in an Asian community (perfectly understandable). And Caucasians don't want to be a minority in the town when there are other choices.
Simply labeling people like me racist is oversimplication of the demographic shift that has occurred.
