When we received the re-registration packet (in about a million languages I might add) it did have specific dates as to when it needed to be done. I, being a person who waits until the last minute, received a notice 2 days before the deadline that if I did not meet the deadline my child would not be allowed in school that Monday. My daugther brought the notice home so maybe your child failed to give it to you. There was a warning sent that children would be asked to leave school if the re-registration hadn't taken place by the deadline. I have been a life long resident of Fort Lee and so is my mom. She was on the school board back in the 80's. We have a huge truancy problem that people don't even realize. I in fact know of 6 children that are not allowed back in my daugther's school because it was found that they were living in Edgewater, Leonia and there was even one from Elmwood Park!!! This time around they required alittle more information than they did when I first registered her years ago for kindergarten.
I think it is great, we should not have to pay taxes for children who are not residents of the borough so they can attend our schools. Yes, it was a huge inconvenience to stand on that line for over an hour but if it means getting out the bad seeds, that's fine with me.
