We're afraid the time has come . . .

Unknown to most of you, in operating message board forums, for years we have been waging war against spammers pushing everything from pornography to pharmaceuticals. You know that annoying spam you see in your e-mail inbox? Well, in addition to that, we have many message board forums that we maintain which sometimes receive scores if not hundreds of such spam message submissions every day. Messages which we have to delete.
But lately, the volume has been more rapidly increasing. Apparently, there are enough morons out there who believe that they're going to get rich quick (really, that they're going to make any money AT ALL) by posting links all over the Internet to certain web sites. Maybe they're learning this from late-night infomercials, but there are now SO many morons doing it, lately we've been fighting a losing battle. So we have to change the rules of the game slightly.
What this means for everyone is that soon, in order to post in this message forum, you will have to register FIRST. (We've already implemented this on a number of other forums, just not this one yet.) Once logged in, you are then free to post under your registered username. But it's a mechanism that will help us deal with the automated message submissions from bots, as well as the living, breathing spammers who visit our forums.
Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.
