You raise good points - a Korean-American did run for the schol board recently and I did vote for him. The election was lost but I think his candidacy served as a groundbreaker and other Korean-American candidates will follow. There are many Korean-Americans involved in borough sports programs and committees (including the important town boards - Board of Adjustment & Planning Board). As I said, a Korean-American High School senior is a veteran member of the Fort Lee Historic Committee. I hope to see a Korean-American run for Council in the near future.
I am very optimistic about Fort Lee's future. The percentage of Korean-Americans, Italian-Americans, Russian-Americans, etc in the school system doesn't frighten me but it encourages me. American democracy absorbs all cultures and the bottom line is that our nation is stronger because of this fact. Fort Lee can support a diverse community for that is its strength.
