well, after a year here, things started to look better. I think this place is absolutely perfect for a single, a couple, or a couple with one child. The two-bedrooms duplex is the way to go. It is small, but very relaxing, quaint and extremely accessible throughout. I have to say that management allows owners to renovate their co-op as much as they can. Rules say that you must have wall-to-wall carpeting but they never check. this means that you can have wood floor, just don't run up and down the stairs all the time. from 9-5 M-F, whatever noise you make is allowed, after that just be considerate. I guess this would be the same everywhere you go, so nothing new here.

My neighbors have been living here for many years. Many seem very happy here, like a small community. I also love the courtyards, seems like I am living on an ivy-league campus.

After a few confrontations, I am happy to say that our neighbors are not complaining anymore. I guess people who have been living here like to show their seniority. guess it is normal. so just ignore them, but don't go crazy like have a massive all night party. who would do that anyway? seems like everyone here is a professional/commuter with a small family.

this place is actually ideal for a small family (one child) or a couple. It is the right size to relax and settle in. great place to come home, enjoy a good meal, watch a tv, read, or do whatever. and cleaning up is a snap (unlike a house, which would take forever!).

Maintenance includes tax, hot water and heat! that is fantastic. most co-op listings will say that the maintenance is only $300, but they don't include anything else. Here, it is $700 for everything (except electricity, which is like $45). during winter, you can crank the heat up. it is great.

why am I saying all this? guess I felt guilty about making it look bad. the people here are actually decent. just be strong with management and they will back down.

so many people here do not truly follow the rules (as long as you show some consideration for your neighbors).

cats and small animals are allowed (except dogs). The people here are all mixed, asians, white, hispanic, black, all working professionals with a small family. very prestigious feelig to it, like a small Fort Lee! bus stops right in front, fairway supermarket a block away. you can't beat it. plus, fort lee PS 4 is walking distance. in fact, everything is walking distance.

I would say that this beats hi-rise co-ops any day. it feels like a small home. you can have a small garden in your front yard.
