I'm looking in Bergen County for a house and checked out Fort Lee. The NJ State Dept of Education has a website that includes language spoken at home for each town and school. It shows Fort Lee's elementary school as 33% English, 39% Asian (21% Korean, 8% Japanese, 3% Chinese), 10% Spanish,5% Russian and the rest "Other". With house prices in Fort Lee as high as they are, as a non-Asian English speaker I'm inclined to look elsewhere.I don't think it makes me a racist to prefer that my child not be a minority in her school.
I agree with "Mike" that there tends to be a "tipping point" when a town moves towards one ethnic group that feeds on itself. There's nothing wrong with Ft Lee being a Korean/Asian town, but I think human nature will result in whites looking elsewhere.
