Oil spill causes multiple accidents on Route 4 West

Route 4 and Decatur Avenue
Rt. 4 & Decatur Ave.
For the second morning in a row, the early morning commute on Route 4 is hampered due to accidents.

This morning, the tie-ups are the result of an oil spill from a dump truck, which has resulted in multiple accidents and a number of injuries on Route 4 westbound in the Teaneck-Englewood area, according to police.

The first accident occurred at approximately 6:00 a.m. near the Decatur Avenue exit, and at least three other accidents are believed to have been caused by the slick road conditions caused by the oil spill, police say.

Westbound traffic has been temporarily closed off from Fort Lee through Teaneck. According to police, westbound traffic is being diverted onto Route I-95.
