Fort Lee Streetscape
Program
The Borough of Fort Lee has dedicated one million dollars
in funds for streetscape improvement programs. Main Street from
Lemoine Avenue to Center Avenue is Phase One of this improvement
effort.
Improvements include:
- All new street lighting
- New parking meters with ornamental covers
- New trash receptacles
- New seating benches
- New landscaping in selected areas
- Upgrading and building new municipal parking
- New Borough and District Gateway signage
- All new brick pavers in our commercial districts
Notice to Property Owners:
With this improvement comes an opportunity and a responsibility
for all property owners in the area. The opportunity comes for
you to work with the Borough in repairing and replacing under
the Borough’s contract, but at your cost, any related lateral
connections that are your responsibility that may need to be
replaced or repaired. The Borough will be performing an internal
examination of each of these connections in the near future.
Please contact the Fort Lee Parking Authority regarding the state
of these lines into your property. Should they require replacing
or repairing, the Borough will work with you to discuss undertaking
these repairs now. NOTE: If these
repairs are not made when the Borough does its improvements and
takes place after the Borough completes the streetscape project,
they will be done solely at your cost completely, so you are
urged to call the Parking Authority now.
With this investment by the Mayor and Council in improving
the commercial vitality with new sidewalks comes a responsibility
on your part to ensure that your property is in the best shape
it needs to be in. The Borough of Fort Lee will be identifying
and will report to you any health, safety, or code violations
that may be outstanding on the property. The Borough hopes to
work with you in seeing that this property is fully compliant
with local codes. Please call the Parking Authority to discuss
what, if anything, has been found.
